Embedding sustainability principles
Retaining our gold rating recognises Impact’s continuous efforts to embed sustainability principles more deeply throughout our organisation, our communities and those we work with. The independent assessment measures how well we have integrated the principles of sustainability into our business and management systems. EcoVadis focus on four key areas of environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement – and our results around labour and human rights are weighted due to the nature of our work.
"Business must be a force for good"
“The debate around whether it is possible to operate sustainably whilst making a profit has been won. However progress is painfully slow, and it’s become increasingly obvious that it is no longer enough to simply not do any further harm. Instead of perceiving the natural world as a store of resources, we must understand it as a series of interconnected living networks. Instead of thinking of people on the other side of the world as external to us, we must acknowledge that we are implicated in their lives, as well as in those closer to home. And instead of imagining employees as cogs in a machine, we must recognise them as human beings whose wellbeing is paramount to an organisation’s success.
Business is one of the most powerful forces for shaping, influencing, and catalysing change. It can and must be a force for good. Our purpose has never been more felt, our journey is never-ending and our passion for positive change is stronger than ever. The EcoVadis assessment is hugely important to me, to Impact and to those we interact with. Gold rating is great, we are now striving for platinum.”
