SCBS

Team Journey Programme

Established in 1995, SCBS has rapidly grown to become one of the most fully integrated investment banks in Thailand. Their product offering spans the entire spectrum from financial advisory to capital raising, asset management and related financial services.

Objective

SCBS recognised that to be as effective as possible in an uncertain economic climate they needed to identify and develop new ways of team working. SCBS asked Impact Thailand to design and deliver an exciting, innovative learning journey for their newly formed top management team. The journey had to help them to build a sense of ‘One Team, One Spirit’ and to develop ’Solution Providers’ as the first step of their overall journey.

Solution

After 1:1 conversations with the participants Impact Thailand designed a powerful learning journey that allowed the team to get to know each other better and build stronger relationships.

The team were tasked with planning and navigating a real journey from Bangkok to an unknown destination. This process demanded effective leadership, planning and team working skills as decisions were made about completing tasks based on financial, environmental and social issues. These consequential challenges with goals, targets and deadlines needed the team to work through ambiguity to provide clear direction.

Using skills from day one and a framework based around Impact’s Team Development Model, the team were able to identify and practise their development priorities when they worked together to complete a creative construction project. The project was high energy, great fun and clearly demonstrated the advantages of cross-functional working and developing team relationships.

Result

The participants gained an increased awareness of the fundamental process that any team needs to address in order to aspire to becoming a high performing team. They were able to agree on fundamental team principles that will guide future actions and behaviours.

“Impact provided a creative and fun event to integrate our new top management team with the existing one. The design of the programme helped us to learn and understand how the team was organised and how individuals contributed to the team. It was a fun and tiring journey, under the November heat.

We have learnt lots through the experience, and now understand which things work and which don't. Of course, the journey of the team is just beginning! We are on the way forwards…”
