Q: Tell us more about your career so far and what brought you to Impact?
In 2011, I was the General Manager at iHeart Radio (NZME) in New Zealand and led the company through the Christchurch earthquake. Following this life-changing event, I received an O1 Visa to live and work in the US, largely based on my disaster recovery experience. When I arrived in the US in 2013, I was introduced to Impact’s Consultant Tim Raw through a mutual friend from New Zealand, and through this connection I met Impact Americas’ CEO Jeremy Benton. After hearing how Impact was expanding rapidly in the Americas, I re-connected with Jeremy earlier this year and he shared his future vision of the company with me. There seemed to be a good fit between my experience and the direction Impact was heading in, and as they say ‘the rest is history’.
Q: You’ve been at Impact Americas for about 4 months now, what’s the thing that’s impressed you the most so far?
I can honestly say it feels like a family, and I’m loving the journey so far. We have fantastic people working for Impact, that truly want to make a difference in the lives of our clients.
Q: How would you describe your leadership style?
I’m a big believer in collaboration and having a culture that allows people to excel at what they’re best at. I’m very results oriented, so like to support the team I’m working with to make sure everyone is clear on their roles and objectives so we can really deliver.
Q: What would you say is the biggest change in the L&D market in the USA in the last year or so?
I think it’s the speed at which business is moving. What was trending last year may be irrelevant this year, so the challenge for companies is to ensure their business and people strategies are intrinsically linked. Leadership is more important than ever in these rapidly changing times.
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your role?
Watching the personal growth in the Impact team as they take on new challenges and really step outside their comfort zones to ‘super serve’ our clients.

Q: What’s one app or technology you can’t cope without?
Sorry to have to say it but the Facebook app. Having moved across the other side of the world, it’s great for staying connected with friends and family plus connecting with new friends.

Q: What’s the next for Impact Americas?
We’re trialing a new client engagement model, so expanding our team to accommodate this. We believe this will have a hugely positive impact on the way our clients interact with us.
