Linde North America

Leadership and business sustainability

Linde North America is a member of The Linde Group, a world-leading gases and engineering company with 50,000 employees working in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Objective

Linde North America and Impact have worked together since 2004. Their annual program gathers a group of people working in diverse roles across the company and aims to develop business and financial acumen, as well as leadership and team collaboration skills while delivering a business sustainability project. During their three-day offsite with Impact, the company focused on:

  • Leadership - leaders developing leaders
  • Leveraging change
  • Creating high performing teams.

Solution

Each year Impact partners with Linde North America to design and facilitate an engaging Community Action Learning project, aligning cultural commitments around corporate social responsibility. The not-for-profit organization that was chosen this year was Anchor House Inc., based in Trenton, New Jersey.

Anchor House Inc.'s mission is to work with homeless, runaway and abused children and youth, from birth to 21 years of age. They work to utilise their strengths and the support of their families and communities to help ensure a stable and successful home.

Linde’s business skills were called upon to address the following:

  • Re-aligning the organization’s mission statement, values and branding
  • Improving communication both within the organization and the community
  • Reviewing the existing performance management process.

Anchor House Executive Director, Kim McNear met with the group for an initial introduction and Q&A session on the evening of day one. Based on this session, the group decided to divide into sub groups to better tackle the task.

On day two, the group met with key Anchor House staff and visited shelters across Trenton. The team worked intensively to gather as much information as possible to assess existing operations and identify potential areas for improvement.

On the final morning, the team presented their findings and recommendations to Anchor House staff and Board members.
