Job title and responsibilities

Senior Consultant, currently focusing on leadership and employee and engagement and the design of large group events. I’m also Impact’s HR Manager.

Last book I read
I’m currently reading the first of the famous Stieg Larsson series.

Your heroes include
My heroes include Jane Austen, Thomas Hardy, Dickens, Thackeray, Virginia Woolf, John Irving, Joseph Heller and many more! Their work captured the world as it was and, in doing so, changed it for ever.

Your best day at Impact (so far)
Two weeks ago I ran a two-day programme with our Polish team in Warsaw. The programme had been great, the journey home was a long, welcome period of solitude and reflection and I can hardly remember being more tired, more happy and more satisfied in my life.

Who makes me laugh?
Just about anything either of my two boys (6 and 4) says at the moment is hilariously funny even – sadly – if they don’t mean it to be. Sorry boys, I’ll change this before you’re old enough to read it.

Last journey you took
We took the boys mountain biking in Grizedale today. It was freezing cold and a mud fest.

What’s on your desk?
We hot desk in the office at Merewood, so I don’t have a desk. Which, of course, means that I do have a desk and woe betide anyone who sits at it. Hot desking is a good discipline for me. When I get in I carefully position my lap top, my mouse, my notepad and pen, my banana and my two apples. And when I go home I pack all of these things back up again and take them home.

Proudest moment at work
A few months ago I ran a programme and when everyone had left I was racked with uncertainty – had it been successful? Had it made a difference to people? Within two hours of getting home I received an email from one of the participants which made me feel light headed with relief and pride. I won’t tell you what it said, it would embarrass us both. This is a small example but it is such moments that make me so very proud, always, to work at Impact.

Favourite place?
My absolutely favourite place to be is in one of my little boys’ bedrooms, reading them a story before bed.
