Leadership in Unprecedented Times
We are in challenging times. What kind of leadership is called for to navigate organisations through uncharted waters? I would like to share some thoughts with you that look at the challenges and opportunities facing leaders of organisations of all sizes. Why we all need to be more aware of global issues, the importance of engagement and innovation and how there may be some not so obvious sources of competitive advantage that are both ground breaking and exciting.
I am a general manager of a medium sized international business. Like most organisations, this year has stretched us to the limit. Whilst we have had some major successes and won some fantastic awards we have also had to reduce head count and reluctantly lose some really talented people.
We act as leadership consultants to some of the world’s most famous brands in some cases we have worked in partnership with them for over twenty years. Despite being an SME we tend to get more involved than most small businesses in global issues. As a result I have been fortunate to attend two very significant events this year as well as tap into the thoughts of 80 HR professionals in practical workshops during CIPD this November.
