Zinco Design Solutions are part of the Impact International Group. The graphic design and website development team have used their Learning in the Community days to create a new website for the Marine Education Trust.

Zinco were introduced to the Marine Education Trust (MET) by Paul Rose - Impact's 'Ideas into Action man'. Paul is also a patron of the MET. The MET's work with communities to help them understand and so preserve their local marine environment.

“The website has been a fantastic tool for us, as it lets people find out what we are doing, access resources and reports and gives us the chance to publicly acknowledge the people who have helped us.  The website has really come into its own in our current campaign supporting the Chagos Islanders, who were removed from their homeland by the British Government in the late 1960s to make way for the US Military Base on Diego Garcia. This issue is also about marine conservation, because the Chagos Archipelago supports pristine coral reefs, and so the UK Government (which owns the islands) has launched a consultation about surrounding the islands with the world’s largest marine protected area.  We wanted to start a petition to urge the Foreign Secretary to consider the rights of the Chagos islanders when he decides how best to protect the marine environment of their homeland, as we want to show that there is strong support for a solution that both protects this globally important ecosystem and respects the rights of the exiled community.  We do not have very much time for this campaign, as the consultation closes on 12 February. Stephen at Zinco created the online petition for us within 24 hours, and in its first two days it was signed by over 200 people.  If the rate of new signatures continues to grow as it has been doing, this campaign is going to be a real success.”
