Speakers

Richard Reeves

rich_reeves.jpgRichard Reeves is the Director of Demos and a writer, commentator and speaker. Richard is a political columnist for Prospect magazine and a regular contributor to The Guardian, Observer and New Statesman as well as a range of national radio and television programmes. In 2005, he was a presenter of the four-part BBC2 series, Making Slough Happy. His latest book is John Stuart Mill – Victorian Firebrand, an intellectual biography of the British liberal philosopher and politician which was shortlisted for the Channel Four Political Book of the Year, and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. Richard’s other principal areas of current interest are the economics and politics of wellbeing; trends in British politics; and the future of the workplace.

In 2006, Richard was selected by The Guardian as a ‘Thinker to Watch’ and was featured in the paper’s regular ‘Ideas Interview’. He is also a former Columnist of the Year and Young Financial Journalist of the Year. Richard is the author of Happy Mondays – putting the pleasure back into work (2001) nominated as a Sunday Times business book of the week and described by Theodore Zeldin as a 'wonderful book - optimistic, wise and thoughtful.' Other publications include CoCo Companies - Work, Happiness and Employee Ownership (2007), Papering over the Cracks, Rules, Regulation and Real Trust (2006, with Edward Smith), ‘Good work and professional work’ in Production Values (2006, with John Knell), and The Politics of Happiness (2003).

Current European Business Speaker of the Year, Richard speaks to commercial audiences on a range of topics, including happy business, leadership, employee engagement, working time, gender equality and the future of work. Richard also works with John Knell in an intellectual joint venture, Intelligence Agency, for a range of corporate and public sector clients.

Richard is a former Director of Futures at The Work Foundation, Society Editor of The Observer, principal policy adviser to the Minister for Welfare Reform, Economics Correspondent and Washington Correspondent of The Guardian, research fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research, one of the UK’s premier think-tanks, and a postgraduate researcher at the University of London.


 Jüergen Griesbeck & Roy White

juergen.jpgJürgen Griesbeck is the founding member and managing director of streetfootballworld. streetfootballworld is a social profit organisation that links relevant actors in the field of Development through Football.  Established in 2002, the organisation encourages global partnerships for development in order to contribute to positive social change. Jürgen has been largely responsible for the organisation’s development in the 5 years of its existence.

Jürgen was recently named Ashoka Fellow for his vision to contribute through the development of streetfootballworld to an environment of social change on a global scale. The Ashoka Foundation supports social entrepreneurs whose innovative solutions to social problems and commitment demonstrate boldness, creativity, and great capacity for social development.

Roy White is the Vice President of HR at Sony Europe and is a long standing client Impact client and sits on our CSER Advisory Board.

Jürgen and Roy will co-present on the benefits of the collaboration between streetfootballworld, Sony and Impact.


David MacLeod

david_mac.jpgDavid has a portfolio of responsibilities which include being a Non Exec Director of the Department for International Development, Non Exec Director of the Ministry of Justice, Fellow of the Sunningdale Institute, Senior Associate of Towers Perrin and Visiting Professor of the Cass Business School.  He is also a Fellow of the RSA, Institute of Marketing and Ashridge Business School.

David has led private sector organisations through major programmes of change including an ICI owned European business from a loss to 20%+ RONA.  He was also head of the marketing team for Dulux where he significantly strengthened the brand through innovation which included Dulux natural whites.  Latterly as a Divisional CEO in ICI he brought together five separate businesses to create a new global organisation.  Profits were significantly enhanced through the merger process.  He has managed businesses in each of the five largest countries in Europe and served on the boards of companies in Europe, North America, Korea and Russia.

He worked at the Cabinet office as Senior Adviser on Change and Performance in 2001-2003 working across different aspects of Civil Service wide reform.  He has also worked at Towers Perrin as Senior Adviser supporting chief executives in both the public and private sectors to implement change in order to enhance performance.  He Chaired the last 4 Chevening Forums which are residential seminars for Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executives.  He was one of the 5 Sunningdale Institute Fellows commissioned by the Cabinet Secretary to review the effect of Capability Reviews across Whitehall.

He has co-authored a book called “The Extra Mile” published by Pearsons in January 2008 on the theme of how to fully engage employees.  In July 2009 he presented the “MacLeod Report” co-authored with Nita Clarke to Peter Mandelson, Secretary of State at BIS on Employee Engagement; it’s importance to organisations and the UK economy.


Christopher Lomas

chris_lomas.jpgChristopher is Founder and CEO of Naked Generations – a Generation Y business consultancy and think tank specialising in Next Generation Talent Strategies. Naked Generations services the Top 200 Global firms with the design and implementation of Succession, Communication and Innovation projects. Naked Generations was recently nominated in the ‘Best Start up’ category at the European Business Awards 2010. 

At just 25 years old, Christopher already has an impressive CV, having attended the University of Durham, Loughborough Business School and Aston Business School. He worked for Lloyds TSB Bank in the City for 3 years as Head of Strategy for the Trading and Sales floor, before setting up Naked Generations.
