Take part in our 2009 Mountain Challenge

Members of Momentum: Impact's Networking Club have been taking part in our unique Challenge Events for the past four years. Our fifth European Challenge is an amazing opportunity to take part in a fantastic Lake District Mountain Rock Challenge.

Our Challenge will allow you to sample a variety of rock based activities in the inspirational English Lake District. No previous experience is required to take part in and enjoy the Impact Challenge as full training and guiding will be provided.

The Rock Challenge

6-10 July 2009
Windermere, UK

Our 2009 Challenge promises to make the most of all the Lake District has to offer - with the knowledge and expertise, skills and safe tuition of our qualified Impact instructors.

Our Rock Challenge will allow you the opportunity to challenge yourself over all rocky terrains - high and low, wet and dry!

Being based in the Lake District gives us access to hundreds of different options - from rock climbs, ghyll scrambles, hill walking and ridge scrambling. Our qualified mountain instructors can teach you the basics - or enable you to develop your skills up to coaching standard.

Programme*

Monday 6 July: Arrival at Cragwood for dinner.
Tuesday 7 July: Kit issue and introduction to the basic skills of rock climbing. Learn about how to use the essential equipment and then test it out on some of the Lake District's beautifully situated smaller rock faces. The more experienced can also learn some more advanced ropework techniques.Whatever your ability this day will improve your current climbing performance.
ridge.jpgWednesday 8 July: A day away from the foot paths - Impact instructors will take you off the beaten track to some of the Lake District's classic climbs and scrambles. We will take care of your safety - leaving you free to enjoy yourself.
Thursday 9 July: The ultimate challenge: it's over to you! Depending on your preference you could undertake a classic rock climb such as Bowfell Buttress or undertake a more demanding route, such as Kipling Groove on Gimmer Crag. If you enjoyed the ridge scramble there are more challenging options for you.
Our instructors will ensure this final day is a personally enjoyable challenge. The day will culminate with a superb celebration dinner at Cragwood Hotel.
Friday 10 July: Depart after breakfast.

What if it rains?
ghyll.jpgJuly is always dry and sunny in the Lake District – honest! However if it does rain there are many famous Lakeland Ghylls to ascend. We will run a careful progression of scrambles up the water course of a mountain stream. You may need to climb up or abseil down waterfalls with the aid of ropes, jump into fresh water pools, traverse rocks etc. Skills learnt during the week will culminate on the final day with a giant scramble up Piers Ghyll on Scafell or Sandbed Ghyll in St Johns in the Vale.

* This is a suggested itinerary. Programme is adaptable to the group requirements, ability and Lake District weather.
